I am trying to using MSN's tool to determine the number of site's linking in to a page. Following MSN's instructions, I click the "advanced" tab from any Live Search page and click on the "Links to" tab in the window that pops up. One is then instructed to enter an address to "find web pages that link to this URL." I do so, and the text "link:http://www.xхxxхxX.com" appears in the search bar at top. When the go button is pressed, results are returned for any pages that have text matching the entire search string, i.e. "link:http://www.xхxxхxX.com", not the number of pages linking in to the page on which you are attempting to gather information. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? The link: operator seems to work effectively on any other search engine I have tried. Why is MSN any different?
