What is dofollow and nofollow?
« on: 06-30-2012, 05:53:52 »
Hey members,

Nofollow is an HTML attribute value used to indicate to search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target in the index rankings of search engines. Its purpose is to reduce the effectiveness of some types of search engine spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results and preventing spamdexing the creation in the first place. If other directors give us a backlink with tag "dofollow", so you get a share of their PageRank and links, and Google will continue to improve site rankings. Again, if the other site owners to provide a link to our site by using the "nofollow", so do not take account of Google and the link has no impact on the ranking of the site.

in my personal experience Dofollow link will make Google crawl to follow the link and index the page - Good for backlinks

Nofollow link will restrict your page from being crawled to your link.

Dofollow link will make Google crawl to follow the link and index the page - Good for backlinks. Dofollow is completely opposite of Nofollow. To make a link Dofollow, you don’t have to use particular Dofollow attribute in the links. Search engine bots will crawl through the Dofollow links and PageRank juice will be shared by your site.

Nofollow link will restrict your page from being crawled to your link. Nofollow is an attribute value of a link, which tells search engines that the link should not influence the target-link’s ranking in the search engine’s index and should not crawl towards the target link.

I understand that your post and also understand the difference between the links “dofollow” and “nofollow”. What I still do not quite understand how to apply a link is “nofollow” on my website. So I ask what are the links that I follow (dofollow) so you can improve the pagerank of my website. Thank you for your attention!

Backlinks are the external links from different websites pointing to your website. This is one of the most important factors out of the total (almost 200) factors which search engines consider for ranking your site in SERP. But all the backlinks are not same, some are important while others not. So the point which comes in mind is how to know which link is more important and which is less important. So lets get into detail of this very important terminology in SEO which is called DO FOLLOW vs NO FOLLOW.
When Google bots are crawling a website they look for external links point to other websites. If this links is “do follow” then search engines will follows the link and so link juice gets passed.
If a search engine finds a “no follow” backlink it will just ignore the link and will not get deeper into crawling and no link juice is passed.

Dofollow and nofollow are link attributes that instructs crawlers to crawl and not to crawl certain links. 'Nofollow' instructs spiders not to crawl links and these links are helpful to drive traffic to your website. 'Dofollow' instructs spiders to crawl the links are help to build ranking for keywords in search engines.

Dofollow links are links that count as points, pushing SEO link juice and boosting the page rank of the linked-to sites, helping them go higher in the SERPs as a result. A no follow link is a link that does not count as a point in the page’s favor, does not boost PageRank, and doesn’t help a page’s placement in the SERPs. No follow links get no love. Theirs is a sad and lonely life.

Hello,
No follow and Do Follow link both have importance for its own place, but it is different matter Do follow link make a strong back link for the site, on the other hand we only get the traffic from SERP.
