I am using windows 7 and it is far better than windows XP. But it has some drawbacks like it has no drivers for some machines like Dell Optiplex GX270 or 280. Other wise it is a great operating system.

Using Win 7 home premium here, it was an upgrade on Vista 32bit. SO FAR no trouble at all, my pc is a Dell 5150, 3,2GHZ p4, 3GB DDR 2, ATI X1650. Very ordinary.
Your problems sound like faulty ram, or a few failing sectors on the C drive.
If the ram has faults you would normally get past the bios screen, then see a STOP error. Windows would not load at all.
Win7 includes most of the drivers for the devices most people use, you only need to install drivers for things such as scanners, printers, and very new graphic cards.
The free program 'drivereasy' finds most drivers for you.
But without knowing any more, it sounds like a hardware problem to me.

Windows 7 was released by Microsoft in October 2009 as the successor to Windows Vista. It introduced several new features and improvements over its predecessor.

One of the notable features of Windows 7 was the revamped taskbar, which included the ability to pin applications for quick access and preview windows of running programs. This made multitasking more efficient and visually appealing.

Windows 7 also improved on system performance and stability compared to Windows Vista. It had better resource management, faster startup and shutdown times, and improved power management capabilities.

Another popular feature was the introduction of desktop gadgets. These were small applications that could be placed on the desktop to provide quick access to information or perform specific tasks. Gadgets could display weather updates, news feeds, system diagnostics, and more.

In addition to the features mentioned earlier, Windows 7 also introduced several other improvements. Some of these include:

1. Aero Snap: This feature allowed users to easily arrange and resize windows by dragging them to the edges of the screen. It made it convenient to work with multiple applications side by side.

2. Libraries: Windows 7 introduced libraries, which were virtual folders that could consolidate files from different locations into a single view. This made it easier to organize and access files across multiple folders and drives.

3. Improved file management: The new Explorer interface in Windows 7 made it easier to navigate and manage files. Features like quick file searching, customizable folder options, and breadcrumb navigation enhanced the overall file management experience.

4. Enhanced networking: Windows 7 introduced HomeGroup, a feature that simplified file sharing and printer sharing between computers on a home network. It also had improved wireless networking capabilities, making it easier to connect to and manage wireless networks.

5. Better compatibility: Windows 7 focused on improving compatibility with older software and devices, ensuring that most applications and hardware would work seamlessly on the new operating system.

features and improvements in Windows 7:

1. User Account Control (UAC) improvements: Windows 7 introduced a more refined version of UAC, which provided better control over the level of security prompts. This reduced the annoyance of constant pop-up alerts while still maintaining system security.

2. Windows Media Center: Windows 7 included an enhanced version of Windows Media Center, which served as a hub for managing and playing media files, including photos, videos, music, and TV recordings.

3. DirectX 11: Windows 7 introduced DirectX 11, which brought significant improvements to gaming graphics and performance. It enabled better visual effects, improved 3D rendering, and enhanced gaming experiences.

4. Windows Touch: With the increasing popularity of touch-enabled devices, Windows 7 introduced better touch support. It included touch-friendly features, such as multitouch gestures, handwriting recognition, and on-screen keyboard improvements.

5. Better power management: Windows 7 introduced more advanced power management options that helped improve battery life on laptops and portable devices. It included features like power throttling, background activity limitations, and improved sleep and hibernation modes.

6. BitLocker To Go: Windows 7 Professional and higher editions introduced BitLocker To Go, a feature that allowed users to encrypt and protect data on USB drives and external storage devices.

Me personally, I much prefer W7 to XP. I was a die-hard fan of XP but managed to get hold of a beta release of W7 prior to launch, and it shocked me how much things had come along - I mean I'd never have considered installing Windows and having most of my hardware drivers sorted for me at the point of install. Its certainly not something you get with XP, unless you use nLite of course.

I'm also a big Linux fan, so I'm always running that as well. If I'm not gaming I'm using Linux. We have W7 on every computer in our house now, and from my perspective its much more manageable and stable than XP.

I can't say I've really had any problems with W7 at all to be honest; Maybe I'm lucky, but we run it on a range of hardware, new and older, and it seems fine with it all.
