I don't think there is a specific number that is good for landing page.
Just focus on quality and to provide user with information that he is searching for, that is always the best practice.

Just think of users as bunch of angry people who don't have time, they just need info and they are out. Ain't nobody have time to read fat texts that are written for search engines

Try to keep it over 400 words, however like c-gun said, there's not really any specific number. Google likes content, but they like even more when the users like your content and interact with your site. So your goal is to fill the page with content that makes people want to interact with it and read it.
