3. Moz: Moz offers a range of SEO tools, including competitor research features. You can uncover the keywords your competitors are ranking for, explore their domain authority, and track their search visibility over time.

4. SpyFu: SpyFu focuses on competitor keyword research and PPC analysis. It allows you to view the keywords your competitors are bidding on, their ad copy, and their estimated budget.

 Hello,
One of the best methods for competitor analysis is the Alexa ranks. Generally Alexa ranks every website based on the amount of traffic it receives. The lower the ranking the better the more site traffic you have in comparison to other websites.

Thanks

Hi there,

When analyzing competitors, you look at several factors:

- Their business model - target market, features, benefits, etc.
- Their advertising practices - what channels to they utilize? What messaging do they use?
- Try to guess at their advertising budget based on what their ads look like and where they're placed in relation to that of your company.
- In the online advertising space, try to determine how popular their site is in terms of visitors (Alexa rankings can help with this: http://www.alexa.com/). Also try to glean how what search terms they target and how these drive traffic to their site (Hitwise is an excellent tool: http://www.hitwise.com)

Basically, you want to know what they do that's different from what you do and how you can do it better than they can.
Best regards,

Competitor analysis has several important roles in strategic planning:

• To help management understand their competitive advantages/disadvantages relative to competitors

• To generate understanding of competitors' past, present (and most importantly) future strategies

• To provide an informed basis to develop strategies to achieve competitive advantage in the future

• To help forecast the returns that may be made from future investments (e.g. how will competitors respond to a new product or pricing strategy?

There are different angles you can look upon when doing competitor analysis. And the tools you need may depend on which angle you want to see about the competition.

For instance, if you want to look on how well the on-page optimization has been by your competitors, you may use the websitegrader.com as well as aboutus.org sites. These sites provides free on-page analysis on a site's homepage.

Moreover, if you want to look at how the competition are linking back to their pages and where they've placed their links on, you can use blacklinkwatch.com and linkdiagnosis.com - both tools are working perfect for backlink analysis.

Hope that helps.. Cheers!

Some businesses think it is best to get on with their own plans and ignore the competition. Others become obsessed with tracking the actions of competitors (often using underhand or illegal methods). Many businesses are happy simply to track the competition, copying their moves and reacting to changes. Some businesses think it is best to get on with their own plans and ignore the competition. Identify Your Top Ten Competitor Now this might be silly for me to ask, but have you identified your companies top ten competitors? Every company has those dreaded competitors they cannot stand, no matter what you do they are always using your ideas and taking your potential customers. Whether you are a local, national or international company there is probably someone in your company, specifically the sales and marketing teams, that can quickly rattle off your top competitors as well as what differentiates them from you. As a national company you are competing with possibly hundreds even thousands of companies going after the same group of qualified leads.

Hi There,

Competition analysis is one of the most important step in SEO. First you need to know which are your competitive websites, then after shortlisting some of the websites, start with examining the website.

For keywords analysis, list out their keywords and check the keyword ranking. Based on the search volume and competition, list out the popular keywords and target those keywords for your business as well.

Hope this would help,

Why not you do it manually, rather depending upon free/paid tools. Competitor analysis is a good thing to do, if you own a business. Having online business, it becomes more important for a owner to have a proper competitor analysis. It can cover, their marketing and advertising, customer's area, product/service price etc.
