We can consider a "toxic link" is a bad or unnatural backlink, usually associated with a penalty. So neutralizing this type of link would mean that you get the link pulled or nofollowed so that it no longer causes you any harm. Usually what that entails is going back through your backlinks and identifying which are unnatural or causing penalty, then trying to get them pulled from wherever they're linked. You can disavow bad backlinks too, but the disavow tool is very powerful and should only be used if you really know what you're doing.

Toxic backlinks are the unnatural links that harm the search rankings of a website.
The best way to get a link removed is to contact the webmaster of that site. In most cases, you will find some sort of a contact form on the site, but if not you can check Whois. If there is no way to contact the owner, just make a note and move on.

Hi. About "toxic links"... I discovered via SEO Spyglass a lot of links added in the last two months that are not present in the Google webmaster tool. Is it possible? What I do not understand is that the links are indicated as the sites but when I visit one of those links none of them is presented on the page (and SEO Spyglass itself says they the sites are not dangerous because they have no link to mine)... I am getting crazy (I hope that it was possible to understand). Tx

Through Backlink Quality Checker you can know who links to your website. Now, you have to go to ‘ Toxic link’ report, where you will find all the links, that are harmful to your websites. If there is any link in ‘ Toxic link report’ that matches with the link on your website, then you can remove it by using ‘Google Disavov tool’.
