HTML sitemap is submitted so that user can easily understand our website or web page hierarchy and XML site map is submitted so that the Google crawler easily crawl the our website.

HTML site map is mainly for the for ease of navigation, they are easy to understand. They are mainly for the users and not for the search engines.The problem with the HTML site map they are not able to updated by itself.


XML sitemap are for the search engines. They are not understandable for a normal internet user. But they updated automatically by just setting the frequency over there.
