Yes, it is difficult to do on-page optimization for an ecommerce website. However, I suggest you to do on-page optimization homepage to category page. For product detail page, you can use extensions, which will auto generate title and meta description when you upload them on your website.

Not much difference from simple site, it's just more work, cause you have to optimize everything together (I asume you got site that already made).

If you run an eCommerce website and are not collecting customer reviews, you are seriously missing out. Not only is this great feedback that you need to have to improve your business, but it is also an amazing source of unique content. Better yet, it is very scalable across large websites, which means you can get lots of content onto lots of pages.

To add meta tags or common content, you can make an auto-populated version in your CMS, so that for every new page, meta tags will be added automatically. I use the same for meta tags, based on the title I give to the product, meta data will be added to the page.

Fresh, unique content is also interesting to other websites.  These incoming links will boost your search rankings.
I have had a good run dealing with paidforumposting.com team of writers. I like them, their customer support is responsive.
They explained me everything in details, so just contact them directly for more details.

It's little difficult to manage e-commerce website coz of its large number of pages. But, at the same it's not impossible also. Just a little overtime you have to do for manage this large amount of pages. Go real and unique, produce a good amount of healthy content (fresh and unique) and you'll see a 100% increase in your traffic guaranteed.

It's not like that just write a ton of content everyday but, write a fresh and unique interesting topic every week with fix schedule. It'll work for sure.

Points to be remember while doing on-page for any eCommerce website:

1.) Do proper keyword research
2.) After keyword research, make sure that your title and description is not duplicate.
3.) After meta tags, make sure the breadcrumbs are SEO friendly.
4.) Do image optimization .
