What is use of Pagination in SEO?

WebOutGateway

Hi!

Pagination is a way of organizing or numbering a data in a webpage to make it more manageable and user friendly. Pagination is basically a way of making a website with a lot of information more user-friendly in terms of browsing or searching but Pagination isn't SEO-friendly. In fact, pagination can essentially 'bury' product or services pages deeper within the site making them almost impossible to get crawled by the search engines.

Many websites  (mostly ecommerce) are promoting such a variety of products that they´re ultimately forced to divide them into multiple pages.

Issues that result from pagination

There are two main issues that need to be addressed when using pagination. These are:

1. Duplicate content issues

Usually when we are using pagination most of the pages tend to have identical or similar content and often the meta title and meta description are also similar between the pages. When this happens Googlebot may be traversing about the pages that should return to the search queries.

2. Crawling issues

Google (Googlebot) is "crawling" each site depending on the authority it has. So especially if your site is new and contains many pages that are not so important there is the danger that Google won't index them all, especially if the depth (level of the clicks) is too "deep". In this case you could lose important pages from being indexed in Google search queries.

"In simple term the pagination tell the relationship between two to more pages to search engine avoid the chance of duplication."

For Example: - If you have any ecommerce website and you cannot show all the product in a single page. Then you can use pagination code to tell Google that other two or more pages are inter connected not duplicate.

Pagination is a tactic of segmenting the content on more pages. We need pagination when we have a website thta has more than ten pages of content in a single category. In a product category of an online store there can be listed hundreds of products.

Pagination occurs when a website segments content over the span of multiple pages. For example: one  e-commerce site, this will take the form of product and category listings; on a new site, articles may be divided up across multiple pages or arranged in the form of a slideshow; om forums, groups and topic threads will typically span at least 2-3 pages; even blogs, which tend to feature article previews ordered from latest to oldest, will run into pagination issues on their homepage. their home page.
