Primary keyword optimization
« on: 07-13-2012, 14:40:40 »
Hello,

1) I have trouble optimizing the primary keyword on the main page, because I can only effectively write it in the title and description tag. The reason is that there's no room on the front page for an article about the keyword. I cannot write it out near the top of the page neither, because it won't fit (design, structure reasons). Neither can I have it in the url because my main page is the domain (a brand name). Will my primary keyword even rank well (considering I'd have loads of quality content in all subdirectories of my web) even though I cannot optimize the main page?

2) And if this is the case on my top category pages also? Should I accompany my category page with text for better SEO?

Will someone who makes an optimized article page (also has the keyword in url) out-rank my "unoptimized" category/main page, even though I have more content inside?

Thank you so much.

  • Static text on your homepage can actually help you optimize your keywords more efficiently. So I would recommend finding the right spot for it.
  • I think you should try to include in the category page original and relevant text, but only if you find it to be useful.

Hey hurrican,

Keyword Selection For Search Engine Optimization SEO

Choosing your primary keywords may be one of the most difficult parts of good SEO. It is also, however, one of the most important. When you begin optimizing your website for search engines, you will need to choose one primary keyword or keyword phrase, and four to six secondary keywords.

Onpage is really essential to optimize your primary keywords. Try to optimize Title tag, Description tag, Keywords tag and alt tag. Besides this content optimization is also essential. After doing this all you can do offpage seo.

For better implementing your keywords, contact a website developer. An expert can do it very efficiently, without changing its look and feel. Do not try on your own.  >:(

If you have quality content on other pages, please do create a strong internal linking. That would help your website get ranked higher. As long as search engines can see that related content is linked through anchor text in keyword phrase, you should be in a better position than you are in now.
I did the same for my site.

As you know home page is very important in SEO. On page is really important to optimize your primary keywords. Try to add a H1 tag for your primary keywords. And also add primary keywords on meta description, while not important to search engine rankings, are extremely important in gaining user click-through from SERPs.

Optimization is good, but over optimization is bad.

If your home page does not give you enough scope, try having a blog article for the targeted keyword.
You will get a chance to increase your authority with content rich site.
