Black hat SEO refers to the use of unethical and manipulative tactics to improve a website's search engine rankings. It often involves practices like keyword stuffing, hidden text, cloaking, and link schemes that violate search engine guidelines. The main goal of black hat SEO is to deceive search engines in order to achieve quick results, but it can result in penalties or even getting banned from search engine results pages.

On the other hand, white hat SEO emphasizes ethical techniques to optimize websites and improve their visibility in search engine rankings. It involves strategies like creating high-quality and relevant content, optimizing website structure and performance, conducting keyword research, and building natural backlinks. White hat SEO focuses on providing value to users and follows search engine guidelines, resulting in sustainable long-term growth for websites.

Black Hat SEO:
1. Keyword stuffing: Injecting an excessive number of keywords into website content, meta-tags, or hidden text, purely for the purpose of manipulating search engine rankings.
2. Link schemes: Engaging in unnatural or spammy link-building practices, such as buying links or participating in link farms, with the aim of artificially boosting website authority.
3. Cloaking: Presenting different content to search engines and users, misleading search engines by providing optimized content that is not visible to actual users.
4. Content scraping: Stealing or duplicating content from other websites without permission, often to create low-quality websites solely for the purpose of generating ad revenue or backlinks.
5. Private blog networks: Operating a network of interconnected blogs solely for the purpose of building backlinks.

White Hat SEO:
1. Quality content creation: Focusing on creating informative, original, and engaging content that caters to the needs and interests of users.
2. On-page optimization: Making sure that website elements like titles, meta-tags, headers, and URLs are optimized with relevant keywords in a natural and user-friendly manner.
3. Proper site structure: Ensuring a well-organized website structure that is easy for search engines to crawl and index.
4. Natural link building: Earning backlinks through valuable and shareable content, guest blogging, and building relationships with other reputable websites organically.
5. Social media promotion: Utilizing social media channels to amplify the reach of content and engage with the target audience.

additional points about black hat SEO and white hat SEO:

Black Hat SEO:
1. Hidden text and links: Using techniques like white text on a white background or tiny text hidden off-screen to stuff keywords or add links without users noticing.
2. Doorway pages: Creating multiple pages with similar content but optimized for different keywords, intending to manipulate search engine rankings.
3. Content spinning: Rewriting existing content using automated tools to create variations, often resulting in low-quality and nonsensical content.
4. Negative SEO: Engaging in tactics to harm competitors' rankings, such as creating spammy backlinks to their website or hаcking their site.
5. Article spinning and auto-blogging: Automatically generating low-quality articles or blog posts by scraping content from various sources or using software to rewrite existing articles.

White Hat SEO:
1. Responsive design: Ensuring websites are optimized for different devices, providing a seamless user experience.
2. Mobile optimization: Optimizing websites specifically for mobile devices, considering factors like page load speed and responsive design.
3. Local SEO: Optimizing websites for local searches, such as including location-specific keywords and listing the business on online directories.
4. User experience optimization: Focusing on creating a positive and user-friendly experience on the website, including easy navigation, clear call-to-actions, and fast loading times.
5. Technical SEO: Conducting audits and optimizations to improve website speed, crawlability, structured data, and overall technical performance.

and more:

Black Hat SEO:
1. Clickbait: Creating misleading or sensationalized headlines or content solely aimed at attracting clicks, without delivering on the promised value.
2. Duplicate content: Publishing identical or substantially similar content across multiple pages or websites, which can lead to search engine penalties.
3. Link buying: Purchasing links from other websites to artificially boost the website's authority and rankings.
4. Link farming: Participating in networks of websites solely created for the purpose of generating reciprocal links, which is against search engine guidelines.
5. Automated content generation: Using software or scripts to automatically generate low-quality and spammy content, often with little to no relevance or value.

White Hat SEO:
1. Keyword research: Conducting thorough keyword research to identify relevant and valuable keywords that can drive organic traffic.
2. Semantic markup: Implementing structured data markup to provide search engines with additional information about the content, which can enhance visibility in search results.
3. User engagement optimization: Focusing on metrics like low bounce rates, high time on page, and frequent return visits, which can send positive signals to search engines.
4. Social signals: Encouraging social sharing and interaction with high-quality content, as social signals can indirectly influence search engine rankings.
5. Local citation building: Optimizing websites for local searches by creating accurate and consistent business listings on various online directories and review sites.

There is no such thing as White Hat SEO or SEO that Google approves of.

Implementing ANY SEO aka doing things with the purpose of moving rankings in Google, is against their Terms. With that said, the distinction between Black hat and "white hat" is that black hat strategies are often unsafe and risky. If you are working as a consultant and are responsible for other business' websites, it is the worst thing you can do as it can have huge consequences.

Blackhat is pretty much spam, using automated tools/software to mass-backlink and create content.
Whitehat is the exact opposite, hand create every piece of content to the highest degree, and same with the backlinking process.

White hat SEO is described as the process of achieving high search engine ranking by using techniques that comply with search engine guidelines. On the other hand, black hat SEO attempts to improve search results placement in ways that are not only misleading but also goes against current search engine guidelines. This kind of SEO strategy is used by website owners who want immediate popularity rather than long-term investment.

Some have made a valid point.
If you write solid content and people back link to you, it is white hat correct?

What if I give my best friend and neighbor, Joe, 5 dollars to borrow a cu of sugar, ohh and if you could add a link to my site, that would be wonderful too.

Is that black hat SEO? Sure! You bought a link. It was not genuine and legit. But to google, in google's eyes it is 100% whitehat.
There is no (online) indication you got the link  by non-legitimate ways!

Think about that..

In this case, black hat SEO is only Black hat if you get caught...

White hat seo is a technique in which we used fresh, good contents in our site.Never used any kind of duplicate contents in it.It is the best method to get high ranking on the Search Engine..
Black hat seo is technique in which we use duplicate issues like content, photos, video, hidden links, keyword stuffing doorway pages and many the other is not good for our site because when Google starts its crawling it considered the site is full of duplicate issues and he penalized the site minimum +30 Google page ranking.
