What will Happen if the Limit of Characters in Meta Description is Exceeded?

Hello everyone,

If the number of characters in Meta Description is 450 instead of 160 in a page, will be there any problem? My plan is adding the keywords, that have low competition but a high number of searches, in the Meta Description, which might bring a lot of traffic to the pages.

I am new in SEO and currently working on optimizing WordPress pages with All-in-One SEO plug-in.

There are no problem for you. But it not recomended. Search engeens somtimes whill show your description on search issuing only 150 characters. All over whill be unvisible for visitor.

For meta description you should keep it under 160 or google will truncate it.
Its not a problem as such however, if you are adding too many keywords its called keyword stuffing which is not a good thing
It may affect your page ranking

There is no 'problem' but it is not recommended .google shows just the first 100 -150 characters in the SERP so it doesnt make any sense to use much more than that. and the left most keywords used in description have advantage over the ones used later in the description.
2nd point is.google may not even update your description if it feels that your meta description is spam

Characters of meta description shouldn't be exceeded as it takes only 4 keywords and that too of 160 characters only. If you try to exceed the characters it would be treated as spam and Google will delete it. Following the Google norms you should make the meta description then only your website can rank easily.

Follow the rules, it's for the best. In my experience, if your meta description is too long and you create the post on a social network (e.g. Facebook), the description won't show as a whole, but only to recommended number of characters. Therefore, your sentence won't be complete and it's just overall bad thing for SEO.
