Canonicalization URL describes the preferred URL of several versions of the similar pages which may be caused by copied content issues. Basically, it helps us to avoid copied content issues.

We use canonical URL because of these reasons:

-They help to specify which URL that you want people to see in search results.
-They simplify tracking metrics for a single product/topic.
-They consolidate link signals for similar or duplicate pages and manage syndicated content.

We use canonical error to tell the search engines to crawl a website under particular Url because every page has a different URL and content. It helps to prevent duplicate content issues by using canonical tags.
