I have listed my website on yahoo directory and I am not seeing any traffic from it.
Now every year, without asking my permission, they are renewing it.

Can anyone tell me, is it really useful?? If not, I would like to remove my site from the listing.
If i did it, will it affect my ranking ?

Thanks in advance..

a little up for this topic, an answer would interest me very much too. I'm thinking to take this option ( i find it pretty expensive so i would like to know if you think it 's valuable or a very bad way to spend 300 $)

Hi there,

Around 2 weeks ago we submitted our business website hotels-fairy.com to Yahoo Directory here:

http://dir.yahoo.com/business_and_economy/shopping_and_services/travel_and_transportation/lodging/hotels/directories/

Yes it is an expensive option but if you have an on line business who makes you at least a few thousand $ a month then you have to go down that route as the money spent on listing your business website on Yahoo Directory will come back to you multiple times.

Even though it's early dates for us, we have already seen improvement on our organic placing of our main key words in Yahoo and Bing Search engines.

A small but noticeable improvement has also taken place in Google ranking but this should be more obvious when the next  Google PR update takes place next month. As at the moment the link from the Yahoo Directory it doesn't come up on the Google links results when you type the "link:hotels-fairy.com" attribute on the Google search. We have been told to wait until the next Google update to take place to get the full juice from the Yahoo directory link.

As far is the $299 cost is concerned in our case it is justifiable. I wish DMOZ was as easy as Yahoo, we have submitted four times in the last 2-3 years with no success.

This is my 2 cents... I hope this helps.

Hello, we had the same problem with yahoo, though we got the cheapest service for directories, we were hoping to get higher traffic from this directory, but it gave us very few return rate. We didn't renew the subscription when it expired.
