Short for pay per click, PPC is an Internet marketing formula used to price online advertisements. In PPC programs the online advertisers will pay Internet Publishers the agreed upon PPC rate when an ad is clicked on, regardless if a sale is made or not.
With pay per click in search engine advertising, the advertiser would typically bid on a keyword so the PPC rate changes. On single website -- or network of content websites -- the site publisher would usually set a fixed pay per click rate.  Also called cost-per-click (CPC).

PPC means Pay Per Click which is an internet formula to charge clients who run advertisements on their forums such as Google Adwords or Facebook Ads.

Similarly, CPC means Cost Per Click which is also a formula to pay the website owners or blog owners who are running these ads on their websites such as through Google Adsense etc.

PPC and CPC are often used interchangeable within the advertising community, however generally speaking PPC is used to describe the type of advertising program you are running. CPC, which stands for cost-per-click, is usually used in communicating what you are actually paying per click within your advertising program. To use appropriately in discussion you may say, "We want to run a PPC Advertising Campaign with Google and we want to average our CPC at $0.75." The CPC cost is set by a Bidding process.

PPC stands for pay-per-click, a model of internet marketing in which advertisers pay a fee each time one of their ads is clicked. Essentially, it's a way of buying visits to your site, rather than attempting to "earn" those visits organically. Search engine advertising is one of the most popular forms of PPC.

Cost per click, which usually goes by the acronym of CPC, has two different meanings. For a search engine, the term cost per click means how much the search engine charges advertisers each time a visitor clicks on a sponsored link. Cost per click can also mean the total cost accrued by the advertiser when the ad is clicked on, from just listing the ad to the additional cost of the click-through on the part of the visitor.
