Yes, A Google update is coming for mobile-friendly website. If your website is not mobile friendly, then you have to make it mobile friendly.I think this update will give priority to mobile responsive website, and it will affect mobile searches.

This algorithm doesn't affect any desktop ranking. This new Mobile Friendly Update is only for mobile searches. Anyone have an idea, how much time will it take to rank mobile friendly websites?

Yes, This Google update is for only Mobiles users & Mobile friendly websites. And it's affect visited, only in mobile search reasult .It's not affect on desktop Google reasult search.
