How far do you guys think that metatags are necessary for a website?

Meta tags and meta keywords,content,sitemap,robots.txt,analytics this all are essential part of website to setup for tracking and control whole website, Google don't consider about meta tags it is for the convenience of On page SEOers.

meta title and description tags are most important tags for the seo. But the keyword meta tags are not read by the Google according to the webmasters.
