So, I've got the domain, design, and a skeleton of content.

What is next? How do I start getting that SEO traffic to roll in? It's all White Hat here. Nothing but excellent content.

1. Content is King
2. Social media engagement

What next, though? A listing in the Yahoo! Directory? What are the concrete steps I should be taking? Just adding articles, blog posts, and reports?

Besides Content and Social Media, you need to focus on building relevant and quality backlinks. Not only Yahoo Directory, you can opt for all reputed directories especially local directories as Google's Hummingbird gives first preference to it. Your content creation efforts will go in vain, if you do not know how to do Content Marketing properly. So focus on this technique too.

Yes, you're doing right steps. But it will take some time to build auditory.

Listing to directories like DMOZ or yahoo helps but not required (and I think it will speed up things).

As long your site is young and still in google's "sandpit", make sure everything is right with on-site optimization: no duplicates, good usability, good site structure, interlinking between your own pages.  Check how many pages are indexed. And how fast it takes. You could add your new pages to index manually to speed up the process.

Yahoo Directory is going to end and the new directory is/will replace/replaced it. Have a look at this article from SearchEngineLand.

Before spending a whole bunch of money on business 'stuff' like business cards, LLCs, etc..., see if you can validate your idea first.

Do some guest posts on other blogs. Pitch your idea online to influencers. Do keyword research. See if folks are receptive to it before you invest any more than the minimum time required to validate it.

Why not focusing on creating quality backlinks? These backlinks will drive more traffic to your website.
