Optimizing a website is the requirement of it in order rank it in the different seaech engines easily. Without On page optimization a website can't be ranked easily in Google as it needs to be optimized as per the algorithms of Google.

This is the reason why few of the best On page tool are available in the internet. They are:

1. SEOptimer
2. MOZ
3. Pingdom Website Speed Tool
4. Fiddler etc

Basic Tools are Google Analytics, Google AdWords, Google Search Console through which you could get around with most of the SEO work but you should also use advanced third party tools such as websitegrader, optimizemysite, seositecheckup, gtmetrix which I personally prefer to audit an existing site and fork out the on-page errors.
Beginners may find Google's free tools difficult to understand because of their complexity but with practice they can get used to it, as far as third party tools are concerned, these have user friendly UI and are far easy to understand but they are not entirely free to use such as google's, you have to subscribe to their paid services to use their tool.

Other than moz & google tools such as Google Analytics & Google Search Console, the best third party on-page tools would be websitegrader, gtmetrix & seodetective. If you have great coding skills especially in HTML5,PHP,etc then you wouldn't need to depend heavily on on-page tools. These tools are there to fork out errors in the on-page and website. Always follow google's parameters for best results.
