Title: Difference Between Static Website and Dynamic Website
Post by: derrickschwan on 11-17-2010, 08:17:58
Static Web Sites

For a static-content Web site, all content appearing on Web pages is placed manually by professional Web developers. This is also called "design-time page construction," because the pages are fully built while the site is being developed. Static-content Web site is developed and then maintained by experienced professionals. Such Web site usually costs less when initially developed, but then all future changes still have to be done by Web professionals. Therefore a static Web site can be more expensive to maintain, especially when you want to make frequent changes to your site.

Dynamic Web Sites

On the other hand, pages in a dynamic-content Web site are constructed "on the fly" when a page is requested from a Web browser. Dynamic-content Web site, while still developed by professionals, can be maintained directly by you, our customer. Such Web site initially costs more to develop, but then you don't have to pay Web professionals every time you need to change something on your site. If you plan to make frequent changes to your site, you most likely will be better off with a dynamic Web site.

Hello friends,

A static website consists of a number of separate web pages that are individually created and not produced in a database for managing the website.

Dynamic websites are produced by a content management system or database with template pages that are easily changed or otherwise manipulated without needing specific HTML knowledge.

Thanks and regards

 Hi Friends,

Static Websites

A static site is a website that is written entirely using HTML. Each web page is a separate document and there are no databases or external files that are drawn upon.

This means that the only way to edit this type of website is to go into each page and edit the HTML. So you would have to do it yourself using a web page editor such as FrontPage or Dreamweaver, or pay your web developer to make updates for you.

Dynamic Websites

A dynamic website is written using more complex code — such as PHP or ASP — and has a greater degree of functionality. For instance, many dynamic websites can be controlled by a content management system. This means that you will potentially be able to make updates without needing any knowledge of HTML or any website software.

Each page of a dynamic website is generated from information stored in a database or external file. And the content management system that you may use to maintain your website directly modifies this stored information.

Thanks and Regards
Richard Smith

Static websites are the most affordable to develop and host, and many smaller organizations still use these to get a web presence. Static websites are quick to develop and not more expensive.

Dynamic websites have far more functionality and overall flexibility. Their initial set up is more complex and uses more complex coding types such as PHP or ASP.

Static website needs low cost to develop,quick to host and quick to develop,but it also need a web developer to update the site,content may stagnant and site not as useful for the user.

Dynamic websites are much more functional, much easier to update and new content brings people redirects to the site and helps in the search engine. The main drawbacks is it is much slower and more expensive to develop.

Static sites can only truly be updated by someone with a knowledge of site development. Static sites will be the least expensive to recruit and build-up, and many smaller businesses still make use of these to secure a website. Active sites however can be more costly to develop in the beginning, however the positive aspects are several. At a simple level, a dynamic site can give the internet site owner the capability to just upgrade through adding new content material to the internet site.

Here are some differences between static and dynamic pages:
- in static webpages the theme and content of webpages remained fixed and in dynamic webpages they changed according to run time;
- browsing and loading of static webpages are more quicker than dynamic webpages because unlike dynamic webpages they do not requried the request of server;
- changign the content in static webpages is a difficult task because  you have to develop and upload a new page while in dynamic webpages server application do this automatically;
- if ifle extension of a URL is in .htm or .html then it is a static webpages. While if it is in .php, .asp and.jsp then it is the example of dynamic webpages;
-  static webpages are created through HTML language while dynamic webpages are created by the usage of PHP, JavaScript and Actionscript languages;
- static webpages plan is an easy and cheap method if you wants to create a static and non updating  webpages. While dynamic webpages method is advisable if you have plan to update the content and material frequently.

If the site looks basic and is for a smaller company,and simply delivers information without any bells and whistles, it could be a static website.Static websites can only really be updated by someone with a knowledge of website development. Static websites are the cheapest to develop and host.

advantage :Quick to develop, Cheap to develop, Cheap to host.

Disadvantage : Requires web development expertise to update site, Site not as useful for the user, Content can get stagnant

Dynamic website can give the website owner the ability to simply update and add new content to the site.Some examples of dynamic website features could be: content management system, e-commerce system, bulletin / discussion boards, intranet or extranet facilities, ability for clients or users to upload documents, ability for administrators or users to create content or
add information to a site (dynamic publishing).

Advantage : Much more functional website, Much easier to update, New content brings people back to the site and helps in the search engines,Can work as a system to allow staff or users to collaborate.

Disadvantage : Slower / more expensive to develop,  Hosting costs a little more.
