Nofollow links are generally considered to be useless and no good source to drive traffic but this article but I found some great top-ranking sites having 30% nofollow links. What I concluded is we need to have some nofollow links too, which gives a positive signal to Google. What's your take?

No follow links are not crawled by the search engines so there is no passing of link juice but it can be a great source of targeted traffic to your site in which considered by Google a good signal for them.

Yes my website has so many nofollow links.. Its not so easy to create only dofollow backlinks and it sounds so suspicious to google if your site has only dofollow backlinks... Generally google bots don't follow nofollow links but it doesn't mean that they are useless, nofollow links increase traffic and direct users to your site..

Yes, they do mean for site and gives positive signal to Google. Ideal % of nofollow links is 30% as far as I got to know from top sites.

No-follow links are not useless and they also drive the traffic to your site.
No-follow links are the links which do not pass the link juice. they are not crawled by google crawlers but that doesn't mean that they are not a good source to drive traffic.

No-follow links are not useless. I would recommend getting at least 20 - 30% to make the website look natural.
It would be unrealistic to have 100% only do-follow links, would it not?

You also have to be careful what anchor text you use so you don't over-optimize.

You Shouldn't Bother With No Follow Links?

Absolutely not! Just because they don't provide SEO link value doesn't mean no follow links are worthless. No follow links still provide valuable referral traffic.

A well-placed blog comment or a relevant forum post, no follow or not, can send a huge amount of traffic to your site, which then can funnel down to leads and conversions!

Besides, search engines today are looking at a lot of factors outside of link juice and PageRank. Social signals like those from Twitter and Facebook are increasingly valuable, despite being no follow. The key is to build your brand – don't think of what links are good for SEO, but instead think what links are good for your business, your brand, and what links can help establish you as an industry authority. Remember that links, no follow or not, build trust.

It's also still worth pursing Wikipedia links when appropriate. Wikipedia is very picky about their references, so you'll have to provide very niche, unique content, but if you can get a link it can bring about some pretty cool results – including other do follow links.

Yes we have nofollow backlinks on our website. No follow is a link attribute that instructs spiders not to crawl the particular backlink on the webpage. Hence these links are never indexed in search engines. They are only used to build traffic from various external webpages.

As I know, and the research that I have done, shows that no follow links are now a great ranking signal, it do affect SEO and has a positive rank, whoever claims that they are worthless should think twice.

Basically Do follow links have more importance as compared to no follow links. But that doesn't mean that we shouldn't not focus on No follow links.

you have to maintain a ratio of Do follow and No follow links. as you need to have a mix of do follow as well as no follow links.
