If you had created a link farm there are chances that search engine penalized you. Or else it is not a reason to get penalized.

No, Google does not typically ban a website solely because of internal linking. Internal linking is an important SEO practice and is generally encouraged by Google as it helps with website navigation and providing a good user experience. However, improper or manipulative internal linking techniques, such as excessive use of keyword-rich anchor texts or creating a large number of irrelevant internal links, can lead to penalties or a decrease in search rankings. It's important to follow best practices and ensure that your internal linking is natural, relevant, and helpful to users.

additional points regarding internal linking and Google's guidelines:

1. User-Focused: Internal linking should primarily focus on providing value to users by helping them navigate the website and find relevant content. Make sure the links are natural and make sense within the context of the page.

2. Relevancy: The content you link to internally should be relevant to the page it is linked from. This helps search engines understand the relationship between different pages on your site.

3. Anchor Text: Anchor text is the clickable text used for a hyperlink. It's important to use descriptive and relevant anchor text that gives users an idea of what they can expect when they click on the link. Avoid keyword stuffing or using exact match anchor text excessively.

4. Site Structure: A well-organized site structure with a logical hierarchy can help search engines crawl and index your webpages more effectively. Consider creating a sitemap and using breadcrumbs for better internal linking and navigation.

5. Broken Links: Regularly check for broken links on your website, as they can negatively impact user experience and SEO. Tools like Google Search Console can help identify and fix any broken internal links.

few more points to consider regarding internal linking for your website:

1. Organize Your Internal Links: Make sure that your internal links are well-organized and follow a logical structure. This helps both users and search engines understand the hierarchy and relationships between different pages on your website.

2. Use Relevant Anchor Text: When creating internal links, use anchor text that accurately describes the content of the linked page. Avoid using generic terms like "click here" as it doesn't provide any context for search engines or users.

3. Don't Overdo It: While internal linking is valuable, avoid excessive linking within your content. Only link to relevant and related pages that provide additional value to readers. Too many internal links can confuse users and dilute the importance of each link.

4. Monitor Broken Links: Regularly check for broken internal links and fix them promptly. Broken links can negatively impact user experience and make it difficult for search engines to crawl and index your website.

5. Context Matters: Consider the context in which you place internal links. Links within the main body of your content are generally more effective than those placed in sidebars or footers. Additionally, prioritize linking to relevant and authoritative sources.

6. Add a Sitemap: Including an XML sitemap on your website makes it easier for search engines to discover and understand the structure of your site, including internal links.

Internal linking is very useful and I suggest that you will have to have internal linked when ever you post an article on your site. It will help search engines bots to crwal your site easily and it will even give your site link juice which will help in search engine rankings.

Hope it will help.

Internal linking does not effect your website.Internal linking is essential because it would be difficult for the users to go through other pages if internal linking is not present.
