Ideally, if you 301 redirect (permanent redirect) a page to an exact copy of that page, and the only thing that changes is the URL, then in theory you may expect no traffic loss. From SEO point of view, 301 redirection tells the search engines that all of the attendant qualities of the original page should be assigned to the new page. This includes PageRank, page authority, traffic values, and active link information. So, initially you lose some traffics and ranks for your keywords, but it will be fine after the re-crawling and re-submitting your web pages in webmaster. Don’t forget to add new property for redirected website and submit robots.txt and new sitemap in webmaster tool.

Your questions are answered below, but there is a larger issue here. Buying 50 domains to redirect for SEO value will not hurt you, but it will also not help you in the slightest. None of those domains have any juice to give, and they aren't doing anything for you, good or bad. There are reasons to do this sort of thing (branding), but not for SEO.

301 redirects result in around a 15% loss of PageRank. Matt Cutts confirmed this in 2013 when he explained that a 301 loses the exact same amount of PageRank as a link from one page to another.
