Title: Does Sitemap priority tag, affect page rank?
Post by: GeorgeKappa on 04-10-2013, 07:47:24
Hello, once more.

This time, i want to ask about if and how sitemap optimization, can affect pagerank.

Let's say that you have a few haunderds of pages, in your site and only 10 of them are optimized.

If you address a higher priority score to these pages that are well optimized, would it help you rank better in search engines?

I quess it should, since these pages have better traffic, lower bounce rate and are crawled first from the search engine robots.

Hopefully, i will get an answer on this one.

Thank you all in advance!

I think sitemap priority tags not affect much to Page rank. Page rank is simply the amount of quality backlinks or traffic gained by website. More are the quality backlinks better will be the Page rank. Sitemap only indicates the priority but it does not create any impact on Page Rank.

I do not think sitemap priority tag determine page ranks.  Sitemap priority tag are used to signal the importance of individual pages in the website to Google and other search engines. The pages with more backlinks rank higher or get more traffic on search engines.

You can use priority tag to increase the likelihood that your more important pages are present in a search index.

No. Sitemap priority tag only indicates the page priority to search engines & nothing else. It is having no connection with PR which is increased quality of links pointing towards the page.

No. Not at all. The priority you assign to a page has no influence on the position of your URLs in a search engine's result pages.

Hope this will clear all your doubts.

There is no connection between sitemap priority tag & PR. Both are relatively different fields. Priority tag indicates page value & PR  indicates page rank which depends upon quality backlinks.

A sitemap is a very important process if you want to rank your website on search engine. The sitemap will not guarantee to rank your website on top, but  it will at least help to discover those missing pages if your site design is such that it has impeded the search engine from finding them before.

Sitemaps are an important way of communication with search engines. The purpose of a site map is to spell out your Web site’s central content themes and to show both search engine spiders and your visitors where to find information on your site.
