The google sandbox is temporary and usually lasts from 1 - 3 months.

Google stings you with this if you build too many backlinks in a short amount of time and your site is generally under 3 months old with no PR and a small amount of backlinks.

However if your website has PR and is older than 3 months it generally doesn't get sandboxed easily.

 Hello Friends,

According to the Google sandbox effect, Google temporarily reduces the page rank of new domains, placing them into what is referred to as its "sandbox". This is done in an effort to counter the ways that search engine optimizers attempt to manipulate Google's page ranking by creating lots of inbound links to a new web site from other web sites that they own.

Thanks and Regards

Since the thread was bumped I thought posting this might be of some benefit for people:

Google SandBox = Old phrase/term.
It referred to sites that were "restricted" in some ways in performance, limiting their ability to do well i nteh SERPs for certain/all search terms etc.

It is Now a commonly mis-used term, as the SandBox effect that is referred to kind of disappeared sometime ago.

.

Instead - you may find the following;
* New sites get a short period (honeymoon) were they are "boosted" to see how they do and to get some traffic etc.
* New sites loose the HMP after a time
* Poorly structured sites may have content that ranks well to begin with, then falls due to shoddy site structure (blogs).
* Some sites have "weak" content (tiny content, partially duplciated, very poor internal link structure etc.) and may be removed from SERPs
* Some sites have a variety of Internal Duplication (Canonical, Multiple URLs, Replicated page contents etc.) which may get Filtered.
* Some sites have External Duplicated content (full), which may be Filtered out (google only wants to show 1 version!)
* Sites that are Not popular (low Quality and low Quantity InBoundLinks, and/or links that appear False/Non-Volunteered) may perform poorly

Mixes of the above are often seen as "sandboxing" - they aren't - it just seems that people will believe anythign they read without checking the Age of what they read (seriously, reading SEO articles from 2005 is not going to help you all that much unless it poitns out Quality and Originality!)

Google created the Sandbox filter for new sites to stop spam sites that purchase numerous inbound links and rank highly for their keywords from the date of launch. Google temporarily reduces the page rank of new domains placing them into what is referred to as its "sandbox".

Its not a penalty and practically nothing is like Google Sand box. It is only the period of time a website's keywords will have to wait to attain a position in search engine results. The duration can be different for different websites and keywords depending on the competition.

The Google Sandbox is much related to a new website being placed on probation, and kept lower than expected in searches, prior to being given full value for its incoming links and content. The Sandbox acts as a de facto experimentation for sites, possibly to put off spam sites from rising quickly, getting banned, and repeating the process.

Google Sandbox is not a program or equipment . It is rather just a term by webmasters and marketers pertaining to the website's "no traffic" period . This is the time where in a website should expect no traffic coming from search engines. Usually the sites experiencing Google Sandbox are new website .

You can read more about Google Sandbox at this link here> http://www.webconfs.com/google-sandbox-article-11.php

I hope this is helpful for us !

If Google shows your website in the results and your website recently dropped down in keyword rankings, than you are still indexed by Google and it is likely that you were placed in the Sandbox. New websites start out on the bottom with a zero page rank but with time the site can start ranking up.

The sandbox is the place, where Google keep new site for a certain amount of time to prevent them from ranking in search engine. The idea behind this Google feel that new websites are not relevant as the older sites. Once the Google gets the trust on the new website, automatically it get started to rank.
