Hi,I am looking at creating multple sites with rich content and te usual advertising. My question comes in respect to domains.

I know I can literally use sub-domains in stead of new domains, but how does that affect my SEO ranking?

Help would be appreciated.

A subdomain is treated as a completely new domain as far as the engines are concerned. That being said, you'd be subject to the theoretical sandbox, etc. The good side of all of this though, is that if you can get your PR up on both subdomains you have double the leverage for future domains/subdomains.

 Hi Friends,

Yeah sub domains can be of great use, but if you have valuable content in them and do back linking for them.

Thanks and Regards

Using subdomains instead of new domains can have an impact on your SEO ranking. While search engines generally recognize subdomains as separate entities, they are still considered to be related to the main domain. Here are a few factors to consider:

1. Branding and User Experience: Using subdomains can help maintain a consistent branding across your sites, providing a clear association between them. This can enhance user experience and make it easier for visitors to navigate between your sites.

2. Domain Authority: When you create subdomains, the domain authority of the main domain can potentially benefit the subdomains. If your main domain has good SEO value, it can positively impact the ranking potential of the subdomains.

3. Link Building: Earning backlinks for your main domain can indirectly benefit the subdomains by sharing some of the authority. However, building links specifically for subdomains may require additional effort as compared to building links for unique domains.

4. Keyword Optimization: Each subdomain can focus on specific keywords or target different topics. This can allow you to optimize each subdomain independently and increase your chances of ranking well for different search queries.

5. Content Management: Managing multiple sites through subdomains can be more efficient than managing multiple domains separately, as it reduces administrative overhead and costs associated with setting up and maintaining additional domains.

Here are a few more points to consider regarding the impact of subdomains on SEO ranking:

1. Site Structure: Using subdomains can help you organize your content effectively. You can create subdomains for different categories or sections of your website, which can make it easier for search engines to understand and index your content. This can potentially have a positive impact on your SEO ranking.

2. Crawlability and Indexing: Search engine bots treat subdomains as separate entities and may crawl and index them differently. It's important to ensure that your subdomains are properly configured for search engine visibility, and that you submit each subdomain to search engines for indexing.

3. Link Equity Distribution: When you use subdomains, the link equity (authority) earned by one subdomain might not directly transfer to another. Each subdomain will have its own authority and may require separate efforts for link building. This can impact the overall SEO strength of individual subdomains.

4. User Trust and Branding: Having multiple subdomains under a main domain can help establish trust and credibility with users. They can recognize and associate these subdomains as part of a reputable brand. A strong brand presence can indirectly contribute to better user engagement signals, which are important for SEO.

5. Technical Considerations: Subdomains can offer more flexibility in terms of technical setups, such as different hosting providers, server configurations, and content management systems. However, it's important to ensure that each subdomain is technically optimized for performance and speed, as these factors can impact SEO rankings.
