Broken Link is also called dead link. A link is not active link, which means link/URL do not lead to any landing page. Broken links are not good for website and also search engine don't give any importance to them. It is an important task to keep all links active for website optimization.

If you have a website, I'm sure you've put a lot of hard work and long hours into making it a valuable resource for your visitors. But if your links aren't working, it can derail all of your hard work. Broken links on your website can be harmful in two ways:

I am afraid that you cannot do much for a borken link if the webpage doesn't exist. If the link was removed then you would have contacted the webmaster to fix the links. But if the webpage is no more, then it seems probably that the webmaster doesn't require to renew it.

If the link is on your site, contact your webmaster for a fix.  If the link is to a specific page on another web site, try visiting just the domain name part of the address. perhaps you can find the original information in a new place. If you find it, send the new link to your webmaster.
