Links is not the answer at all. Interesting stuffs will do the talking. Make or write something interesting about your site and share it through social networks. You can also build links to it but aiming to make it rank is nonsense. It's just for promotion.

There are many ways to get visitors but i think the most important factor is update unique and interesting content and get some authority links.
