how to optimize for search phrase with *date* in it?

Greetings. I do some optimizing for a calendar company.

Every year, one of the keyword phrases is - for example - "international calendar (current year)"

What are your thoughts on these two choices?

1) optimizing their calendar page for "international calendar 2012" and then changing it every year (next year it would say "international calendar 2012")
vs.
2) creating a simple landing page each year, optimized for that year?
