how to pick the right keyword for my home page
« on: 08-01-2014, 12:58:53 »
hi I m new to SEO, I m doing keyword research.
I have done the job with google keyword planner but the keywords I got are either semantically good with no traffic or with a good traffic but not related.
how can I find the right one? each time I put other keywords in google planner it spits out pretty much the same results.
do you know any good tutorial / book that explains it step by step?

thanks

I will suggest you to finalize the keyword, which have a good number of searches. If you pick a keyword with little or no searches you can't rank easily.

You can use the best search keyword through Google Keyword Planner with the highest number of searches. This will be the most competitive and high priority keyword for your website. Apart from this, you can also search for other related keywords suggestions from the main keyword which will help you link with your website internal pages.

Try Google trends to know what people are searching in your place. Know your competitors keywords for help.

First of all select your main keywords. Make keywords analysis & competition analysis regarding your main keywords. Search for related keywords using adwords or any other tools.  Adjust main keywords in 3-4% in your content & if possible try to use related keywords in content. Target maximum keywords which you are using on homepage and from any other pages which carries importance for your website.

There are three steps to take to getting the right keywords for your site.

Step 1 - Breaking down your product and service offerings
Step 2 - Research who your top 10 competitors keywords are
Step 3 - Using a keyword tool to get your keywords

In addition to haris put all the information to spreadsheet (xls), collect the number of searches, the competitiveness of the  keywords (number of mentions) and the trends. Then cuclulate a ratio to find the most efficient keywords to target. Revise this list every three months

Dear its not Rocket Science.

Just select keywords That define your business and target the region this will give you , absolute targeted traffic..

Example:

SEO the service provided
Australia the region targeted
Gold Coast the area targeted

or if you want to add other specifications.

like best, cheap or what ever comes in your mind.
