links towards the top of the page are treated more importantly by Google because users are more likely to click on them. As such, remember to link important keywords or phrases in the first few paragraphs of your content as opposed to the bottom of your content.

Not necessary that you link the inner pages from the footer of your webpage. You can link internally from the content of the webpage. This helps visitors to redirect to every page of your website and get what they are searching for in your website.

For successful inner page SEO, they should link properly. It is not necessary that you should link all inner pages with each other, but link to the related pages should be given properly in order to navigate user smoothly.

Pages with similar reference  have to be connected together. All the inner pages must be indicated by header & footer links. Proper navigation to the user is important.

According to Google algorithms your website needs to be optimized so that Google can crawl it easily after indexing. For linking your inner pages of your website you need to link it with your landing page i.e with your main domain so that it can also be crawled at the time of indexing. After that only your internal links can be crawled and can get the rank in Google quickly.

In order to create lots of internal links, you have to have lots of internal pages. The first step to a killer internal linking strategy is to have a killer content marketing strategy. You can’t have one without the other.
