Hi friends

I have a non English blog and i want to rank for some short targeting keywords

I have many articles for long tail keywords and for many of them i rank between page 1 to 3

for example for phrase "kebab cooking tips" i rank page 1 but for keyword "cooking" i am not even in first 10 page of SERP.

I do perfect internal seo on my blog but i can not rank on short keywords.

my question is how i can rank for short keywords and what is the best White hat way to do that.

Thank you for advice

(My blog is not English and keyword cooking is Enlgish Translation of my keyword)

Keywords are classified into four types
Research (one or two keywords)
Consideration (two or three words)
Purchase(long tail keywords)
Loyality  (brand based)

As per your post, you are ranking for consideration & purchase kind of keywords which is good, research keywords are generally broad kind of words, you don't even know what exactly the user is searching for eg: cooking tips, or cooking images. Hence I would like to say the more specific the keyword (think long-tail keywords), the easier it is to gauge the searcher's intent.

It is very easy to rank a website using long tail keywords, but on the other hand it is that difficult also to rank using short keyword. As you are trying to rank for the term cooking, which is a very broad term and it will take lot of time & efforts to rank your website for the same. I will suggest you to target this keyword by adding prefix and suffix to it, using Content Marketing technique.

I have been in seo field for more than one years, but not too much experience. but i have my opinion, it is easier to rank your short keywords. You just promote your short keywords to many good site, good banner and high quality article.

You want to rank for the term cooking? Well good luck as that is an extremely high competition keyword and niche.

Unless your website has been around for like 20 years and you have a domain authority of at 80 it will be nearly impossible to rank for just cooking.

BTW kebab cooking tips is not a long tail keyword. "Expertly deep fried chicken and beef kebab cooking tips" is a long tail keyword.
