Redirecting Your Domain to non-www URL:
1. Begin by logging into your cPanel account.
2. Click on the Redirects icon under the Domains area of your cPanel home page.
3. Keep the Type as the default, Permanent (301)
4. Select your domain name from the drop-down menu on the next line.
5. In the redirects to the text box, type in the full URL of your domain, without the www (e.g. http://yourdomain.com).
6. Select the radio button next to only redirect with www.
7. Click the Add button to add your redirect.
8. If you want to test your new redirect, type in the www version of your domain name into your browser. You will be redirected to the non-www URL for your domain.

The best way, especially if you are re-branding your site and/or moving to a new URL, is to use a 301 redirect.  Although 301's don't pass 100% link juice or page authority, you shouldn't lose a significant amount of traffic.  If you have a large Ecommerce site with a lot of potential duplicate content, then the rel=canonical  tag can be used to suggest to SE bots to index only the preferred version of the product page or content (you can eliminate dupes such as pagination, alpha sorts, etc).  A word of caution about the rel=canonical:  there's been some indication that only Google honors this tag contrary to public statements made by Bing.  Also, there seems to be widespread problems or even faulty implementation of this tag by webmasters.

Use a 301 redirect for your website, to get preferred URL. Make useof 301 code in header section in the web-page where you want to redirect. This will direct you to the dedicated Url.
