Is forum posting waste of time?

Every SEO is using forum posting for there keywords and links. It is good but 1 question is arriving that is keywords and links usually not relevant to forum so Is it beneficial to keywords or back links received from it?

Couldn't agree more with this post. Ever since spec ops came out it had made me lose interest in avengers alliance over all. It's ridiculously repetitive, difficult, un engaging, time consuming and just a waste of resources.

In many cases we can see that same problem as people are not taking as a Discussion but they are looking for Back-Links and traffic so they changed the Topic and give the unnecessary answers which are actually meaning Less. I wish we can stop them by deleting their Reply. Its very nice topic you have started

If you are doing forum posting on general site and your posts are relevant to the topic than you will get benefit but if you are not posting according to the topic you can't get any benefit.

Not all forums are off topic but they are categorized in various categories and if one of the categories is relevant with your keyword then posting is beneficial from both point's traffic and backlinks.

It can be more useful if you are doing in niche forums. Generally if you are promoting car site and commenting in webmaster forum it can be not much worth

though forum will not give direct traffic but you can get backlinks from forums for a particular keyword and that will help you to get good ranking in SERP. you will get good traffic on your website.
