Is it good to use different IP for SEO
« on: 09-09-2014, 02:49:35 »
Hello everybody,
I am feeling confused about one thing. We are doing all our SEO works from same IP address. So we are thinking of buying the dedicated proxy for using different IP address during all our SEO work. How good this idea is? Can Google detect that all the works has been done from different IP address? Please give me your suggestion.

What did you mean by "doing all our SEO works from same IP address". Did you mean you do all link building tasks from your IP? If this is the case, I think it won't matter. If ten websites are hosted on the same IP, and you try to get a backlink on every of them, then it's a real Matter.

No! There is no need to use different IP's.
A simple answer to this is - Stop spamming i.e. building links in a bulk.

Try to get quality backlinks from high authorized sites.
4-5 quality backlinks are much better than 1000's from low quality sites.

Thus, if you are earning few yet high quality and natural backlinks, then don't worry about using proxies.

Doing your SEO work from the same IP address is Ok. But still you have to be careful with your host. Suppose your website name is xyz.com and it shares the same host and IP address with a site that builds spammy backlinks to manipulate search engine results. There are bright chances of your site being penalized by Google because of same IP address.

I think this is a good practice in the field of SEO work as if you do all the SEO work from the same IP then it may consider as a spam. So using proxy for different IP address during all our SEO work can benefit you in different ways.

I humbly differ from most of the feedback given so far.  I'm not entirely sure if you're asking if you should differentiate IP's for your "Money Sites" or your "Backlink Assets".  But either way, each one should be diversified on both IP and any other associations (Webmaster tools for example).

It's obvious that you should use different IP's for your backlink assets so I wont get too much into that.  If a site has a set of backlinks coming from seemingly different sites, but all happen to be on the same IP, this is a major footprint flag for Google and you're likely to get quickly penalized.

About money sites, put them on separate IP's to spread out the risk.  Put them on separate Google accounts as well.  When Google penalizes a site, it also takes a look at the other sites related to it, either by IP or WMT tools account.  Just recently I had a potential client come to me who got penalties on every single one of her money sites.  Was she doing shady backlinking?  Nope.  One site got negative-SEO'd which flagged her.  Then the other sites got dinged for "thin content" for being affiliate sites.  If she had been on different IP's, this wouldn't have happened.

Hi jannatul,

If you are dealing with one website then there is no issue using one IP address, But if you are dealing with more than one site that too niche site then its not a safe way to use single IP address, as we know that Google consider those sites as a spam. :) :) :)

IP addresses come in two flavors: virtual and dedicated. If you’re using a virtual IP address, it means that there are multiple Web sites, as many as your server allows, using the same IP address you are. If you’re using a dedicated IP address, you are the only site on that IP.
