Hi!

I have a question about how to understand google SERP vs the meta.

I have this page: https://www.qliving.com/bygningsbiologisk-undersogelse
The meta description says: "Få tjekket hos os hvor sund din bolig er og få rågivning om mulige forbedringer - SH404."

The SERP is here: https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=cr#bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&fp=729a152d819e6011&q=bygningsbiologisk+unders%C3%B8gelse
Google SERP description: "Bestil en bygningsbiologisk opmåling, hvor vi måler og rådgiver omkring reduktion af mobilstråling og elektromagnetiske felter. Læs mere om ydelsen her ..."

So, the meta description is what I want output in the SERP. However, google completely ignores that and pulls in a description from the product description.
When I resubmit the page in webmaster tools, the result don't change.

So my question to you guys is what is going on and what do I not understand here.

The meta description tag in HTML is the 160 character snippet used to summarize a web page's content. Search engines sometimes use these snippets in search results to let visitors know what a page is about before they click on it.

A search engine results page (SERP) is the page displayed by a search engine in response to a query by a searcher. The main component of the SERP is the listing of results that are returned by the search engine in response to a keyword query, although the page may also contain other results such as advertisements.

The meta description does not influence rankings directly. Including keywords in your meta description or even defining a meta description at all does not factor into Google's rankings.

If you don't want to write meta descriptions for your pages or don't have the time, don't worry about it. You don't have to. As the question points out, Google will fill the meta description field with content from your body copy.

Meta descriptions have, at best, an indirect influence on rankings because searcher engagement in the SERPs is believed to be a small ranking factor. So if you write a particularly compelling meta description, with or without keywords, that earns your listing in the SERPs a high CTR, your site may get a rankings boost.
