I have had my website for about a year consisting of home page, blog and shop but I do not get any traffic to the site.
I have done all the sites by myself as I am on a very limited budget so may not look the most professional.
If i type in the name it comes up first on Google but is nowhere to be seen with keywords etc and it has no page rank.
I have added relevant meta tags, keywords and title and I am now starting to gain backlinks by adding to forums etc.
Is this a lengthy process or am I doing something wrong or not enough.
Please can anyone tell me which would be the most important thing to concentrate on as obviously need traffic to get my business going and compete with competition.

Firstly you check whether you can add google analytic coding to your web pages or not. If yes then you also check the Title tags in your web page is highly serach or not if not then change these to highly searches keywords.

Thanks for your responses, yes I have google analytics on my site and check my google webmaster page all the time.
I do have quite a lot of keywords on my site so maybe it will just take time.
I am now concentrating on getting my web address out there on forums, blogs etc and will see if this helps.

SEO is a lengthy process, but for a year if you done it right you must see positive results already. Maybe you need to update your SEO plan. Joining forums, blogs to gain backlinks will help! Goodluck

In SEO (Search Engine Optimization), there are two type of work, one is on page and second one is off page work. In on page work we create relevant meta such as title, description and keyword and can use alt tag on images and relevant content, these are part of on page and second one is off page activities such as to create a natural link which should be more relevant to your content, more related theme. These things help to promote your website and you can get more traffic.

In addition, to get more traffic you can do PPC(Pay Per Click), with help of PPC you can get ranking of your page very soon, in just fifteen minute and get easily traffic on your website.

hi, do you use social media ?

perhaps change your linking : instead of :

Follow @SARAHOFFWORLD on Twitter

Follow me on Facebook

put a likebox and the twitter icon  ( your follow me on Facebook is only text bytheway no link to any account)

eventually spend some few euros for facebook ads with looking for the specific kind of customer you' re looking for.

and create a google + account with an official page for your product and after this link the both together ( personnaly i dislike very much google + and find it totally unintersting but since i did this, and i have something like 2 or 3 people in my circles so really nothing, i get a better ranking in google for some keywords (nothing like from page 280 to first one but perhaps a 10 % boost)
