social bookmarking and Directory submission both are quite same, Social bookmarking is much rapid where as Directory submission takes some time to give you back links.

I prefer bookmarking over directory submissions. Because bookmarking gives instant traffic and backlinks but directory approval time is too long!

Both methods have their own importance. Directory submission give you permanent links and social bookmarking give you traffic so you can not compare both.

im using both. I posting on social bookmarking is more appealing because it was approved and posted immediately. However, in directory submission  it takes 6 to 7 months before your submission will be approved specially when its free listing.

well, i agree that it takes a long time before the submission in directory will be approved. However, patience is a virtue :)

I'm go with both.Directories submission helps to increase site home page PR.on the other hand social bookmarking can increase pr of page also give you some instant traffic..

Although both social bookmarking and directory submission are usefull techniques of seo but I prefered  social bookmarking over directory submission,.
