See content may help you blog to get rank on Google. But keep in mind that go for quality content not spammy one. Also you can post some blog commenting on high PR blog site.

For proper SEO strategy,follow the steps-
- Content Freshness and uniqueness
-Content must be really useful and attractive for users.
-Content must be user-intended ,not for search engine.
-Blog template settings must be simple but the interesting one.
-Add your blog URL on social media.
-Do blog commenting but in a genuine way(comments should haev a useful meaning,not be vulgar/abusive) ,because otherwise google may consider it as a spam.

You should go for content marketing after writing fresh content. Remember, in the case of blog, qualitative, informative and useful content does matter. You can use Scoop.it, Quora and Tumblr for content marketing. You also should understand power of social sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus and use to promote blog and its content.

It look like you are using free sub domain, i wonder how can you use adsense for free blog. i assume that you will shift to domain after start getting good number of traffic. Domain will get more preference compare to sub domain. i would first suggest you to go for domain if you really want to target blog for commercial purpose.
