The bigger your audience, the more probably someone's going to start scraping your site each and every time you publish. To me, there's no bigger offense. If you want the benefits of content marketing, put in the work.
Content should be your own ideas, expressed in your own words. Don't copy. Do not steal. That's just wrong.

Quality content is what you may come across on Search Engine Journal, Search Engine Land, Social Media Week, etc popular sites.
The content on such sites is of very high quality i.e. it is informative with excellent infographics.
Repetitive or rephrased content is considered of low quality and it is very difficult to get it published let alone getting back-links from it.
Also, content published through genuine accounts (sign up) would get you followers on social media too which may lead to brand awareness.

Hi Micheal

I have a quite different opinion as to what the others think "quality content" means. If you look at it from SEO perspective, then quality content is what makes your website rank. Now I know Google has degraded the affect the content on your website has on its own ranking, however the content on websites linking to your website matter A LOT.
You see today Google care more about the relevancy between websites that link to each other, and therefore quality content is really content that has a connection to where the links goes.

I hope this was useful. Let me know if you have further questions.
