Keywords prominence is one of the various important factors for search engine optimization. It means, your keywords should be at prominent area in content of your web pages .
Keyword proximity is the combination of the density of a keyword and the prominence. So proximity looks at the location of the keyword in the sentence and how often it's being used in that sentence and also takes into account the distance between them.

Keywords prominence and proximity are both important concepts in SEO that can help improve the visibility and relevance of web pages in search engine results.

Keyword prominence refers to the prominence or importance of keywords within a web page. It involves placing keywords in strategic locations such as the page title, headings, subheadings, and early paragraphs. By including keywords in these prominent positions, search engines are more likely to identify the page as relevant to those keywords, which can ultimately lead to higher rankings in search results.

Keywords proximity, on the other hand, relates to the closeness or proximity of relevant keywords to each other within a web page. Search engines take into account the proximity of keywords to determine the context and relevance of a page. By placing related keywords close to each other, it becomes easier for search engines to understand the content and relevance of the page, thus positively impacting its rankings.

Here's some more information on keyword prominence and proximity in SEO:

1. Keyword prominence: This refers to the importance or visibility of keywords within the content of a web page. Search engines prioritize keywords that are placed in prominent positions such as the title tag, meta description, and heading tags (H1, H2, etc.). Including keywords early in the content and using them naturally can signal to search engines the relevance of the page to those keywords. However, it's important to maintain a balance and avoid over-optimization or keyword stuffing, as it can have a negative impact on rankings.

2. Keyword proximity: This relates to the closeness or proximity of relevant keywords to each other within a webpage. Placing related keywords near each other can help search engines better understand the context and relevance of the page. For example, if your target keyword is "best hiking boots," having phrases like "top-rated hiking boots" or "high-quality hiking footwear" in close proximity can reinforce the relevancy to the overall topic.

3. On-Page Optimization: Both keyword prominence and proximity are key factors in on-page optimization. By strategically placing relevant keywords in titles, headings, subheadings, and early paragraphs, you can enhance their prominence. Additionally, organizing and structuring your content in a logical manner can also help improve keyword proximity.

4. Usability and User Experience: While optimizing for keyword prominence and proximity is important for search engines, it's equally crucial to consider the usability and user experience of your website. Ensure that your content flows naturally, reads well for visitors, and provides value. A user-friendly website that offers a seamless experience is more likely to engage users and rank well in search results.

5. Keyword Density: Along with keyword prominence and proximity, keyword density is another crucial factor to consider. It refers to the frequency of keywords within a webpage compared to the total number of words. A good practice is to maintain a reasonable keyword density (typically around 1-2%) to ensure that search engines recognize the relevance of the page to the target keywords. However, avoid excessive keyword repetition as it can be seen as spammy and potentially harm your rankings.

6. Contextual Relevance: While keyword prominence and proximity are important, it's equally crucial to focus on providing valuable and relevant content to your users. Search engines have become smarter in understanding semantic context, so creating comprehensive, well-written, and informative content that addresses user search intent is vital. This will enhance user experience and increase the chances of higher rankings.

7. Off-Page Factors: While keyword prominence and proximity mainly fall under on-page optimization, it's worth mentioning that off-page factors, such as backlinks, social signals, and overall website authority, also play a role in SEO. These factors can help search engines determine the overall relevance and authority of your website, contributing to better visibility in search results.

Keyword Prominence refers the location of important keywords or key phrase within a web page. It must be used in HTML source code of a web page header, meta tags, meta description, H1 and H2 tags, beginning paragraph or hyperlink text.

So you should always put your primary keywords at the beginning of the sentences and paragraphs, in title, description and the header tags.

Keyword proximity is the closeness between two or more keywords, if your keywords are more closer for searching term, it is better.

For example: 1) How Dedicated IP Address Affects Search Engine Rankings.
2) How Dedicated IP Address Affects Rankings In Search Engine.

If someone searched for the term "search engine rankings" then the web page which containing the first sentence will rank higher than the second.

Keyword Proximity is also used in certain search engines algorithm for ranking a website. Throughout the web page is not the only place where keyword proximity comes into play, it is also a factor in the title, description, the keyword meta-tag, and other places through the body of the webpage.

Keyword Prominence:- Keyword prominence refers to how prominent your keywords are within key elements of your web page. Specifically, how close to the beginning of the page's TITLE tag, heading tags (H1, H2, H3, etc.), and meta DESCRIPTION, your keyword phrase is placed. You should always put your most important keyword phrase at the very beginning of your TITLE, DESCRIPTION, and H1 and H2 tags. Also try to begin your first and last sentences of body copy with the important keyword phrases.

Keyword Proximity:- A search term can be made up of a combination of keywords. The keyword proximity refers to the distance between the search term's individual keywords. For example: a website contains the keywords that make up the search term "Detroit Corporate Photographer" in the sentence "Detroit Photographer Blake Discher specializes in corporate photography". The search term proximity between "Detroit" and "Photographer" is excellent, zero words, but between "Photographer" and "corporate" it is four words. The smaller the distance between a search term's individual keywords, the more relevant it will be from a search engine's point of view.

During SEO process, it is very important as to how you place keywords or phrases in a web page. Prominent Keywords can be placed in meta tags, start of a sentence, page header or in opening para. Keyword proximity refers to the closeness between two or more keywords. In general, the closer the keywords are, the better.
