Title: what is the reason behind suddenly reducing backlinks
Post by: E-Startup India on 06-20-2018, 01:19:43
Yesterday our site was displaying 288 backlinks on 64 domains, while today this number has dropped down to 158 backlinks on 34 domains. What could have been the reason? My page is this https://www.e-startupindia.com/iso-certification.html

It is clearly shown that your site has 288 backlinks from 64 domains and domains are reduced to 34. that means 30 domains are removed on which you worked for your site. That is the reason for sudden backlink drop.

The major reason behind this can be changes in google search algorithms(though indirect)

reasons may be
1 - If sites get hаcked
2-  In case you get penalized for user-generated spam
3- Panelty for thin content
4- In case of the notice is for cloaking or sneaky redirects.
5 - If you get penalized for unnatural links from your site.

It maybe that your website has bee penalized by Google and they are de-indexing your website backlinks. Your website might have backlinks from irrelevant sources.

Maybe the following region:
1. Manual search engine penalty.
2. Algorithm update.
3. Competitors.
4. Lost links.
5. Site redesign, migration, or other changes.

I would use Ahrefs or the Moz Link Explorer to see what links dropped and why. It could also be a false link reading, depending on what tool you are using to get your link county, maybe give it a week or so and see if the link count goes back up in the tool.
