White hat SEO techniques refer to ethical and legitimate strategies employed to improve a website's search engine rankings. These techniques focus on creating high-quality content, utilizing proper HTML structure, optimizing meta tags and descriptions, improving site speed and user experience, and building quality backlinks through organic means.

On the other hand, black hat SEO techniques involve unethical practices that aim to manipulate search engine algorithms for quick gains in rankings. These techniques often violate search engine guidelines and can result in penalties or even getting banned from search engine indexes. Examples of black hat techniques include keyword stuffing, cloaking, hidden text, link schemes, and purchasing links.

While some techniques may fall clearly into white or black hat categories, there are instances where the line blurs, and it becomes harder to define the techniques as strictly one or the other. Additionally, search engine algorithms are constantly evolving, making it essential for SEO practitioners to stay updated and adapt their strategies accordingly. It's always best to prioritize long-term sustainability and user-centric approaches rather than relying on short-term gains through deceptive tactics.
