You may have compared SEO with social media marketing. You may have also wondered that which one is better. People have different views about this question, however, majority of experts are now giving equal importance to both SEO and social media marketing as well.

Hi,
Both SEO and Social Media is better. Some online shoppers begin their branded product research by using a search engine, but some of their using social media. So don't compare which one is better SEO or Social Media, there's a time for both SEO and social media, and an opportunity for them to work together, too.

I believe both SEO and social media were both effective in having rank. However SEO is getting a lot tougher these day we can't always target to gain traffic using single method we have to be willing to use as many traffic methods possibly can.

Hi,

I think both SEO and social media are equaly important to draw more traffic to a website. The techniques used in SEO are however becoming tougher nowadays with the increasing competition. But to have higher rank in SERP it is just not possible to avoid anyone of the two.

Today, links are mainly achieved through developing original content that is in turn, shared across social media. Links to your content on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, YouTube and other social networks help the search engines understand what websites are credible and should be ranked for what keyword phrases.
Nowadays, people don't just go to Google and Bing to look stuff up; they also use social media channels to find what they're looking for. Patel makes this point in his article on why social is the new SEO: "We need to understand that search engine optimization includes the search that happens on social media search engines."

The answer, of course, is: Both!
-While optimizing your headline simultaneously for social media and search engines is not ideal, it certainly forces you to get creative. And if you're really feeling stuck, you can always make your headline a listicle.
- People also search for things within Facebook, they click on hashtags in Twitter and Instagram, and they look for videos using YouTube's built-in search engine. Which means that if you're not optimized for both search engines and social media, your site is not going to pop up.

As for me, it is different concept, but both of them are very important! SEO - is the practice of increasing the quantity and quality of the traffic that you earn through the organic results in search engines, and SM it is the best medoth in SEO)))

I also agree with all the previous answers, that both SEO and social media are equally important for a website. In order to get a detailed explanation of this assertion,, I suggest you to read this informative article http://www.business2community.com/seo/social-media-vs-seo-which-is-better-01280575#VTLu7Q91ObGbQet7.97! I think that both, SEO and Social media are important!
Social websites optimising  ot Search engine optimisation for your headlines are crucial for both SEO and social media marketing. On one hand you wnat your headline to have the targeted keywords and it becomes visible on search engines, whereason the other side you also want to attract social media audience with quality content. The solution for this problem is the use both  of them together.
