Which keyword should I use, long-tail or short?

I'm on my way to writing more content for my website and choosing keywords to write about. Because there are so many keywords, I'm puzzled about selecting them. Normally, we don't search for the long term, but as I can see, some of them still have a very high volume compared to the short one. So, I want to know: Which should I chose from these two?

Ander:
Short keywords have more competition, while reaching the top for longer keywords is more likely. Also frequent queries with numbers 10, 20, 50, etc.

While long-tail keywords are more targeted, they also deliver less traffic overall, and they can be quite hard to find if you're not used to keyword research. On the other hand, short tail keywords are broader terms — often the first thing a customer thinks of when looking for your product or service.  For more info please visit this site: LearnVern.com

Long-tail keywords are longer phrases that use more specific words in search queries, while short-tail keywords tend to be one or two-worded searches. The benefit of using these types of keywords is how targeted your site will be to a particular topic.

Short-tail keywords are an effective way to drive visitors to your site. Short tail keywords only contain between 1 and 3 words. Long-tail keywords can be highly effective in bringing visitors to your site. They can also be used to target users who are searching for either your brand, information, or intending to buy from you. At the same time, long tail keywords get comparatively less volume but are less competitive to rank.
If you’re targeting the right short tail keywords, all it takes is patience, hard work, and the right approach, and you will start to see results.
The users who use a long tail keyword for searching already know what they want, but they did some research to find out the best option for them. Now, this is your chance to target and reach such an audience.
