Hello,

I have a computer repair business that I have been running for over 10 years. My website has been up for ten years as well, but it has recently ranked poorly in search engines for the term: (city) computer repair. My current domain is ********computers.com (where the asterisks are simply my name).

I have been thinking of switching to a new domain name. I was able to purchase three new domains the other day:
repair(city).com
computers(city).com
computer(city).com

It is a fairly popular city, but the name of the city is a bit long at 11 characters long. I do not have the option of purchasing (city)computerrepair.com.

My question is, of all of these domains, which do you think would be best for my target keyword of (city) computer repair? Or should I just keep my current old domain name -- would I be hurting myself to switch to a different one?

Sorry if any of this is confusing -- and thank you so much for your consideration and response.

I suggest you to keep the old domain and try to figure out the reason of low ranking.
You could find new backlinks or try to optimize on-page factors.

The key success of your business lies in choosing the right domain name for your website. Going for a long domain name or including city name in your domain name may impose an impact on the traffic of your business. Because, it may make you change your mind later once the name is established in the marketplace. That would be more difficult, so you should pick up the appropriate domain name beforehand. This will also help you to gain more traffic through organic SEO services only.

Look for reliable registrars that won't charge you extra down the road, will protect your private information and won't surprise you with hidden fees for transfers, etc. It's typical to get a cheaper rate for the first year followed by rates of $12-16/year for the following ones.

- If you are just looking to buy a domain name, without a hosting bundle... I strongly recommend and keep coming back to NameCheap because you can't beat their prices with excellent 24/7 service!
- 1+1 takes second place for their lowest first year rates.
- GoDaddy is popular but it is a hit and miss in terms of service and added fees.
