What SEO tools do you use?
« on: 04-20-2010, 20:02:31 »
I personally use Googles webmaster tools to manage my site, and statscounter to keep an eye on traffic and other marketing activities. I also use a couple of firefox extensions, search status and SEO quake. I find that these give me all the information I need.

So what do you guys use? I am willing to try out something new if anyone has some recommendations.

I think that webmaster tools, analytics, the keyword tool all provided by google are a pretty good team of tools to use. If I am going to use any third party tools, I always utilize 2 just to make sure the results I am seeing are not off. I have used a few different browser plugins but they all seem to have similar tools anymore. The seo quake is a good one, the seobook or soomoz plugin is nice too.

My main tool of use in addition to simply exploring google and the rankings is semrush.com.

It's free and it will help you find what sites are ranking for in your niche and how much traffic they can pick up. Top site!

Thanks for the SEMRUSH tip, never even knew that existed and it's just much easier to use than the google adwords keyword tool.

Other than Semrush I also use the google webmaster tools but wouldn't really classify it as an out and out SEO tool, the main thing I actually use it for is to montior dead pages, and broken links. or tracking pages that are struggling to index.

Crawl Test Tool – will investigate your site and recognize the quick and simple tasks you have to manage in order to boost your rank.

The Keyword Difficulty Tool - will pinpoint the accurate keywords that are not exploited and will be the goldmine of traffic.

I use WEBCEO.

You do need to download it, but it if FREE ;D, so you cannot complain at the price!

It is a comprehensive program which at the click of a button, picks out the keywords you are targeting on your website, it then "rank Checks" then on the search engines you have selected (pretty sure the list is over 1000 sites long) so its very in-depth, you can also use the "compare" feature to see how your competitors are performing, this is a brilliant feature as you can aim to beat them, and see the results instantly!

Anyone else used WEBCEO?

I don't use any tools, i just browse google and look for where good sites rank and what keywords they rank. Is this the wrong way to do it ? Most of the tools out there all look like a waste of time.
