the best tool/site to check our backlinks is ahrefs but it only allows 3-4 audits a day so that really isn't good when you have to check multiple sites in a day. but apart from that it is a great tool. It lists both dofollow and nofollow links and all in all it is a nice and smooth tool (works fine)

There're alot tools to check backlink, but i ussually use webmaster tools, sometime use SEOmoz's tool Open Site Explorer, to optimize on page use SEOQUAKE, that's all free and enough to do.
