If you submit to say 200 paid directories then do they really send traffic to your site or simply send 'zero'traffic to your site?  Relate your experience here.

My experience was indeed bad.  Once I paid a good amount of money as cost to a directory but in turn received no traffic at all.  I was very disappointed then.  I am keeping away from such directories now. There are of course some genuine directories as well.  We have to search for them.

Instead of using paid directories you can use some long lasting paid to click sites such as wordlinx and matrixmails.com

Directories are considered spam these days as Google states them as spam sites with very less content. Hence directory submissions are no more beneficial for ranking websites. These websites are rarely crawled and indexed in Google these days.
