How useful is Twitter?
« on: 04-21-2010, 12:09:02 »
I was just wondering if anyone had any reasonably solid evidence that twitter works as an SEO tool? Do you need to tweet several times a day and have hundreds of followers for it to have any effect and is it worth spending time doing that as opposed to building links in other ways?

I havent yet found it useful for my own services, Although I imagine if you had many followers who are actually interested in what you do or sell it could be great for announcing discounts new products and news. Other then that I dont think it has much SEO value.

Very spammy, and most of the people who are making money from twitter are those selling tools, ebooks and guides on how they've used twitter to make them money and help them promote. I don't use them!

I recently open a twitter account to promote my wallpaper sites, I submitted the account into a particular twitter directory and within 1 month I had like 2000+ followers. Guess what it was all useless traffic filled with people looking to increase their own followers. Not impressed with twitter, filled with spammers to be quite honest!

Plus who the hell has time for micro blogging..

@bigzee: yeah i found much the same, not much effort is required to rack up a big follower count, which just goes to show how beneficial it really is. i.e how many of those followers are actually real people and true followers.

Overall twitter has become over run with webmasters, and guys looking to over promote their websites. There might be some accounts that represent the real world of normal users but they're hard to come by so i don't bother with twitter anymore.

Good evening - as all of us probably are power users of twitter I thought you may find this useful . I signed up to sponsored tweets about a month ago - after building some folowers I now get paid $1.5 just to tweet out some sponsored tweets related to my niche -

heres the site link

Code:
http://sponsoredtweets.com/

Tweets are actually indexed by Google.  Whenever a tweet goes out onto the web, it is the same as a blog being updated.  New content makes Google salivate.

For me, Twitter is useful in three ways:

# Get questions answered
# Expand your professional network
# Promote your blog posts

I haven't thought about twitter as a seo tool, however, if you get aton of targeted followers who ar eintersted in what you offer you could actually generate a lot of money.
